What it sounds like on the page
A spare opening line cracks a door and the prose ambles through after whatever caught its eye. There was no outline; the point is allowed to find the writer late. The gaze stays on the world, the odd fact, the tangent worth chasing, never on an anxious self. Warmth is real and low, courteous and occasionally delighted, with no crowd to face.
What underslop changes when you pick it
It loosens the scaffolding the draft did not need and lets the curiosity show. Forced topic sentences and summary bows come off. What is left drifts, but toward the subject, and it keeps the one true observation the draft had buried under structure.
