The Open Book

Answers your small question with four warm paragraphs, then loops back.

The Open Book is underslop's social, limbic, unstructured, accommodating, inquisitive voice profile. Answers your small question with four warm paragraphs, then loops back. Set the five sliders toward it and underslop edits an AI draft into this register, keeping the facts your draft already carries and cutting the generic machine tone. Below: how the code reads, what the writing sounds like, a before-and-after, and when to reach for it.

The code, letter by letter

SLUAI spells five choices, one per axis, in the order the code reads. Each letter moves the editor a fixed amount along one trait.

SSocialExtraversion
high word count, turned toward the reader, names the people in the room.
LLimbicNeuroticism
feeling sits close to the surface and spikes before it settles.
UUnstructuredConscientiousness
wanders, chains its clauses, lets the point find it late.
AAccommodatingAgreeableness
warm, thanks readily, keeps the cruelty out.
IInquisitiveOpenness
wide vocabulary, allusion, chases the tangent that caught its eye.

What it sounds like on the page

The prose points inward and outward at once: dense with I from anxious self-focus, but every I is aimed at you, offered as company rather than sealed off in a diary. Delight and dread braid inside a paragraph, a boast collapsing into a worry, a hedge walked back into an affirmation two sentences later. The warmth is loud and a little too much, and the distress turns inward and apologizes.

What underslop changes when you pick it

It keeps the loops, the address, and the walked-back hedges while thinning the filler. The tangent that circles back to you stays; the empty reassurance goes. The draft keeps sounding like someone who would rather overshare than let you go.

Before and after

A generic AI draft on the left, the same content edited into The Open Book on the right. Same facts, different voice. The sample is written for this page, not lifted from anyone.

After · The Open Book

Okay so I took a whole day off to “rest” and spent most of it worrying that I was resting wrong, which, wow, listen to me. But then I sat on the floor with tea and did genuinely nothing for an hour and it was the first time in weeks my brain went quiet, and I almost texted you in the middle of it, and then thought no, let her rest too. Anyway I am telling you now. Rest is real. I am bad at it. We can be bad at it together.

When to reach for it

Reach for it for warm, anxious, loop-backing writing that treats oversharing as a kind of love.

Voiced editing is in beta. It runs your draft through this profile and can drift from the facts you gave it, so it flags anything it tried to add and marks any tells it leaves behind. The free tier caps at 500 words a run, and your text is held for 0 seconds.
